Target Intercept
TimeZero can compute the intercept course for a specific target given a fixed speed.
First, set the reference position to the correct location. This represents the point of departure of the vessel that intends to intercept a target. Next, right click on a target that you want to intercept and select "Intercept...". The following window will appear:
Enter the intercept speed and press the ENTER key. The intercept Course will appear.
Note that it is possible to compute the intercept speed between two targets. This is useful if you want to give direction for a specific vessel to intercept another:
-
Right Click on the target that will perform the Intercept and set it as a reference point
-
Right click on the target you want to intercept and select "Intercept..."
-
The intercept window appears with the speed of the target that will perform the intercept already filled
In the example below, we will ask the AIS target "Essayons" to intercept another target ("Ultra Dynamic"):
If the target "Essayons" maintains its current speed (6.7Kn), it needs to follow the course 96.2 to intercept "Ultra Dynamic".
