TZ Navigator and Professional Integration

TZ Navigator and TZ Professional are TimeZero’s advanced navigation software solutions for Windows-based PCs. When TZ Navigator V5 or TZ Professional V5 is running on a PC, it can share both User Objects and navigation data with TZ iBoat over the local network. User Objects such as marks, routes, and boundaries are automatically synchronized between the PC and TZ iBoat, ensuring that your data remains consistent across devices without any manual transfer.

In addition to the User Objects synchronization, TZ Navigator and TZ Professional can output real-time navigation data on the network, including position, COG/SOG, heading, depth, speed, wind, water temperature, and AIS. This configuration is performed on the PC using the Connection Wizard (refer to the TZ Navigator / TZ Professional User Guide). Once enabled, TZ iBoat can automatically receive all available navigation data from the PC, with no configuration required on the mobile device, as long as you are subscribed to the TZ iBoat Essential plan (which allows Wi-Fi Gateway connectivity).

In this setup, the PC effectively acts as a navigation data repeater for TZ iBoat, allowing the mobile device to display and use the same high-quality navigation data as the main onboard system. This is particularly convenient when the PC is connected to sensors or networks that are not directly accessible from the mobile device.

There are several ways to connect the PC and the mobile device to the same Wi-Fi network. Both can be connected to the same Wi-Fi NMEA gateway or onboard router. Alternatively, the mobile device can create a network using its Personal Hotspot feature, allowing the PC to join. On Windows 10 and later, the PC can also create a wireless network using the Mobile Hotspot feature, which the mobile device can then join.
