Trips Introduction

The Trip function records all your data (such as position, speed, depth, wind...) and combines them with any photo, catches, or events you may have created during your navigation.

Note: to record wind and depth data, TZ iBoat needs to be connected to instruments via a NMEA Wi-Fi gateway. If your device only relies on its internal GPS, TZ iBoat will record position, date/time, speed, and course.

Your trips will be displayed directly on the chart (when enabled from the Layer button) and can also be viewed from a list where statistics (duration, distance, average speed, speed graph) will be displayed together with your photos, events, and catches. When a Trip is selected, you can replay it on the chart using the Time Bar located at the bottom of the screen.

Trips are automatically synchronized via Local network (if you have other compatible TimeZero devices on the same network) and automatically backed up to the TZ Cloud.
Once a Trip has been created, you can share a postcard by email or by text message to anybody. If you have friends that are also using TZ iBoat, the entire content of the Trip can be shared within the TimeZero community. You can follow other TZ iBoat users (to see their Trips) or be followed by other TZ iBoat users (to share your Trips).

TIPS: The Trip function replaces the old track function that has been deprecated. Tracks that were created with the previous version of TZ iBoat can still be displayed, but new tracks cannot be created. Unlike Tracks, Trips are automatically backed up and synchronized to the TZ Cloud just like any other User Objects (tracks were only saved and available on the device they were created from). Trips are also more powerful as they contain more data (depth and wind information). Note that you can import and convert your previous navigation data into Trips from the TZ button under "Trips" (scroll down and press the button "Import Trips from navigation data").
